Firefox stinks!
I'm back, Speedy! I tried to do the comment a second time, but when I pushed publish the first time in the embedded box, the comment disappeared. I had to retype it. Then I tried to publish it a second time, and it still wouldn't publish. Aaargh! Oh well. I tried.
Well, this is proving to be another learning lesson if anything.
One thought ... seems that blogger could be causing issues with Firefox and IE on purpose, to further their push of " Chrome ".
Great browser, but a bit intrusive. No suprise there ;-)
Looks like I can't comment through the regular page either, at least not with my "normal" Name/URL combo.
I'll try another test after this one...

The word verification alone should stop the majority of the automated spam.
It's too bad Blogger doesn't have the full range of options that self-hosted WordPress has as far as fighting comment spam.
DCR I will, and had planned on going back to my normal settings in a week or two. I have gone through these spam purge cycles before, and this method pisses them off!
They give up and then when the smoke clears, back to normal :-)
I agree about the simplicity and usefullness of features available at worpress. Aksimet has captured thousands at my golf blog, and that is a low traffic site.
Akismet is up past 46k on my WP blog. I have one of those highly coveted "dofollow" blogs, so the spammers want to get in on that.
But, between my moderation strategy and Akismet, that takes care of most of them. I barely have to moderate any myself, because Akismet will zap them without me having to look at them.
There's always the option of using a word verification system on WordPress but so far I haven't needed it.
This has nothing to do with this, but everything to do with chickens, so I thought I'd share, though you might already know about it.

I agree with your thoughts on Christmas,many people,due to advertizing,are missing the real meaning of the festive season,it shouldn't be about money,but about Love,and giving of ones self where possible..and not feeling guilty cos you never bought the young ones a 500 buck gift which may indeed end up at the bottom of the closet after a week or 2! And this year,so many people are struggling...where will it end?
